BIO
Catalan singer-songwriter. Her lifetime passion has always been music, as it shows from her early start in the musical education. In fact, she started her piano lessons when she was only 7 years old, but it wasn't until the age of 21 that she discovered singing as her way of communicating her inner life to the world. She started singing in a gospel choir (The Gospel Viu Choir) and soon grew an interest for other music styles as well (including Pop, Jazz, R&B, etc.).
After two years of studying Jazz singing at Taller de Músics (Barcelona), she decided to take an even bigger step forward in music. In 2013 she was accepted in ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya), where she got her Bachelor in Modern Music and Jazz with high-grade teachers such as Ana Finger or Carme Canela. In 2015 she left to Mannheim, Germany, where she spent an Erasmus semester studying in the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Ever since, she has been singing in many projects as the lead singer and worked as a backup singer for Judit Neddermann, Andrea Mir, The Other Side: a Pink Floyd Experience and many more.
Finally, in 2018 she published her debut album 'White Flowers' (Segell Microscopi), thanks to which she toured all over Catalonia with her band for two years.
In 2020, she released her second album 'On començo jo' (Segell Microscopi). This time, she no longer uses jazz as her way of expression, instead, she gets closer to pop music with some electronic and indie elements. Alongside the pianist and producer Kquimi Saigi, she has co-produced 11 new songs with a unique musical style. Gessamí Boada still employs the three languages she feels closest to: Catalan, Spanish and English. In “On començo jo”, Gessamí Boada showcases once more her natural ability to connect with the listener through emotion and personal truth.
